In The Forest, players will often find themselves making bows and other weapons. While players can occasionally find modern bows in the world, obtaining one will be a challenge.
With plenty of practice, players can still get headshots and deal a lot of damage to targets with a crafted bow. In The Forest, the crafted bow’s value also lies in how few material components are required to make one or multiple.

How to Craft a Bow in The Forest
To make a bow in The Forest players will need to find at least one stick, one piece of cloth, and one piece of rope. Sticks will be the easiest material to locate, as they spawn near trees throughout the world. Players can also cut down smaller trees and saplings when there are no sticks on the ground.
Cloth can be found in a variety of locations. The material can be found on beaches and in cannibal villages, as well as in suitcases. Cloth crates can also spawn in caves and effigies can sometimes contain cloth. Players can find pieces of rope in caves, in cannibal villages, and on boats throughout the world.
How to Make Bow Ammunition in The Forest
While players can sometimes find modern arrows in yellow crates around the world, they are not recommended for use with crafted bows. The Forest players will want to craft their own arrows to gain the full benefits of the crafted bow.
There are currently four types of arrows that are more compatible with the crafted bow.
- Normal Arrows
- Bone Arrows
- Fire Arrows
- Poison Arrows
Normal Arrows
Players can craft five normal arrows by combining one stick and five feathers. Normal arrows deal the least amount of damage to targets, however, the material cost is also the lowest. Players can also use normal arrows to craft fire and poison arrows. Normal arrows are also great for hunting animals.
Bone Arrows
The Forest players can make five bone arrows with one stick, five feathers, and five bones for their bow. Players can harvest bones by burning cannibals and effigies in a fire. They can also find bones to make bow ammunition around caves and abandoned camps. Bone arrows deal forty percent more damage than normal arrows to targets.
Fire Arrows
Players can make fire arrows by combining five normal or bone arrows with a piece of cloth and booze. These arrows give players a slight advantage over cannibals as the arrow sets them on fire. This can ignite several targets at once if they are in close enough proximity to one another.
Poison Arrows
Players who make their bow their primary weapon in The Forest will want to keep poison arrows on hand. Players can make poison arrows by combining five normal arrows, with four Twin Berries or four Snowberries.
The Forest players can also make poison arrows for their bow with one Amanita Mushroom or one Jack Mushroom. Poison arrows deal damage over time decreasing an enemy’s movement and attack speed by 20-25%.
