The Forest is an open-world survival game. The Forest starts off with the player as the lone survivor of a passenger jet crash, who finds themselves in a scary, dark, and mysterious forest. Players must build a base, explore, and make tools like arrows in the Forest to survive.
Almost every part of the world in The Forest is alive and can be useful. Plants can be chopped down, trees can be burnt for warmth, and animals can be hunted for food and skin. As players progress through the game, they can go from building small shelters to establishing large fortresses to keep themselves safe.
Why Arrows in The Forest are Vital
Since the player’s character has miraculously survived a plane crash and landed on a mysterious Peninsula where civilization is absent, survival becomes the main objective. Every action that the player takes in the game can have a direct impact on their survival chances until the end of the game.
As soon as the game starts, players must find and use whatever crude weapons they can to defend themselves, and arrows are crucial. Arrows in The Forest are a unique weapon, or rather ammo, for a crafted bow or a modern bow. In The Forest, arrows are not only quiet but also reusable.
How to Make Arrows in The Forest
Players need two items to create arrows:
- Stick(1)
- Feathers(5)
To make arrows, simply combine one stick with five feathers in the middle of the inventory by right-clicking on each item individually. Once done, a gear icon will appear below the items in the inventory. Clicking on the gear will allow you to create 5 arrows, which you can then add to your inventory by right-clicking it again.
The bow and arrows are the most effective weapons for ranged combat. They are too slow and cumbersome to use in a close combat situation. But players can stand at a distance to pick off enemies at range.
In addition to normal arrows, there are several other types of arrows that players can create in The Forest, including modern arrows, bone arrows, poison arrows, and fire arrows. Here’s how you can create them.
Normal Arrow
Normal arrows are the easiest ones to craft and can be used in all ranged combat or hunting situations. It is best to use normal arrows for animals since most only require one hit to kill. However, there are better alternatives for hunting cannibals and mutants.
Bone arrow
Bone arrows are created by adding five bones to the ingredients required to craft regular arrows. Like all other arrows, bone arrows are capable of headshots and deal 40% more damage to enemies than regular arrows.
Fire arrow
Five regular arrows combined with cloth and booze will create a fire arrow which can be ignited with a lighter or a standing fire. Fire arrows will set targets ablaze if you hit your mark, and they stay lit on the bow until a player fires them or puts them away.
Once used, a fire arrow can be collected from the corpse of the enemy or animal, although it will no longer be a fire arrow at that point.
Poison Arrow
Poison arrows require a relatively higher level of crafting ability compared to normal, bone, and fire arrows. To create poison arrows, players will need four of either Twin Berries, Snow Berries, Amanita Mushrooms, or Jack Mushrooms, in addition to five normal arrows.
Poison arrows apply additional damage over time to shot enemies. They also cause additional effects like slowed movements and lowered damage capability. When poisoned, enemy skin turns green for as long as the poison is in effect. While poisoning lasts longer than burning from fire arrows, it deals less damage overall.
For mutants and the strongest cannibals, several shots of poison arrows are necessary before the poison can take effect. Remember not to use bone arrows to create poison arrows. That would be a waste of resources – the same arrows can be created from regular arrows.
Modern arrow
Unlike the other arrows in The Forest, you can’t make modern arrows. They can only be found inside caves or in yellow crates. Yellow crates are visually identical to the cases that store flares.
When used in combination with the modern bow, modern arrows deal the most damage of any ranged weapon. That is apart from the additional damage inflicted by fire/poison arrows.
