Sims 4 enables players to live their lives to the fullest, albeit with surprises, and sudden deaths. However, if you’re keen on passing down your skills to the next generation or a Sim you deem worthy, you need to be an expert mentor. Being a good mentor doesn’t come naturally in Sims 4. So, if you’re looking to take a Sim under your wing and teach them your skills, we’ve got you covered in this guide.

Once bought from the rewards store, mentoring is used to teach skills to fellow Sims. While mentoring is a crucial part of completing the Successful Lineage aspiration, it can be beneficial in other ways too. To mentor anyone, players need to get them to start working on a skill. During the process, click on them to get a bunch of options. Choose the mentor option to start teaching them your skill.

Moreover, players can mentor a child, teen, or adult. The process of mentoring remains the same throughout all age groups. However, there are some conditions before you can start mentoring in Sims 4.

  1. Purchase the mentor trait for 1000 points from the reward store.
  2. You must have a Level 10 skill.
  3. It must be a skill that one can mentor.
  4. Go near a Sim.
  5. Get close to equipment related to your skill.

Skills play a vital role in mentoring in Sims 4 and allow Sims to be efficient in their daily activities. You can be a good teacher only once you have mastered the discipline yourself. Skill sets are different for children and adult Sims. Skill building is time-consuming, and it is tricky for players to learn every skill. Therefore, if needed, players can use cheats to upgrade Sims’ skills on an immediate basis.

Unlike previous Sims’ titles, skill levels now start with Level one. To upgrade skill levels, players need to perform tasks associated with them. For instance, playing the guitar increases its skill, cooking skill increases when you prepare a meal, and handiness skill increases when you repair something.

Aspirations in Sims 4

Just like the skills above, aspirations are closely linked to mentoring as well. Aspiration is a set of goals that Sims want to pursue. Players earn aspiration points when they complete a goal. Additionally, these points are used to acquire new traits and purchase some potions. There are fourteen types of aspirations for an adult Sim and several others for children as well. Moreover, Sims acquire a trait whenever players select an aspiration for them. However, players can change a Sim’s aspiration at any point in the game.

When players start a new game, it will ask them to create a Sim. Then, players will notice five options on the left side of the display. These options provide the ability to choose aspirations and traits. Although each aspiration is beneficial, some of them offer more aspiration points. With aspirations having levels of mastery, Sims that have fulfilled their aspirations can be the best mentors in the game.

Family Aspirations in Sim 4

Family aspirations allow players to achieve goals related to family life. In Sims’ 4 base game, there are only two family aspirations: Successful Lineage and Big Happy Family. However, the count of family aspirations increases with DLC packs.

Successful Lineage is a part of the game’s family aspirations and is directly linked to mentoring in Sims 4. Its goal is to raise your children and build their skills. Although to complete it, players need to mentor their adult children three times and help them to master a skill.

Successful Lineage is of four levels, and the tasks are:

  • Level 1: Become an adult and spend a total of $1000 on kid’s products.
  • Level 2: Become a parent, either by having a child or adopting one. Narrate a book for two hours to your kid and Socialize ten times with them.
  • Level 3: Help your child to max a skill, get them to earn ‘A’ grade in school, and help them three times with their homework.
  • Level 4: Mentor the kid three times, help them to complete an aspiration, and have them reach their highest career level.
