How to Ping in Valorant

Updated:

To defeat your enemies, your aim and game sense must be on point. However, if you want to succeed in Valorant, you’ll need to master team communication above all else. Fortunately, Riot Games has a modern solution for this: pings. And this is how to ping in Valorant.

The ping system, which has become standard in almost all modern FPS games, is a way to communicate quickly and effectively with your teammates. Of course, it is better if you communicate using voice chat. But if you are uncomfortable with it, feel free to use pings.

You may remember giving information with pings from Apex Legends or Call of Duty: Warzone. Pinging is a great solution to let your friends know where the enemies are, what angle you’re holding, or where you’re moving.

To ping in Valorant, follow these steps:

  1. Find out which key the ping is as soon as the game starts (default Z)
  2. Then the ping key while looking at what you want to ping

Valorant is very smart about it. There’s different information when you mark an enemy, a blank wall, or a plant site. The really fascinating thing about the ping system in Valorant is the “Ping Wheel”.

Press and hold Z to open this wheel. You’ll see different types of commands on the wheel. With a little practice, you can quickly learn these commands. Thanks to these pings, you’ll be able to give your teammates the most accurate information pretty fast.

You can customize all the pings on the wheel, swap them around, and assign shortcuts to each one if you want. Speaking of customization, what if you’re not happy with the “Z” key?

Since every player uses different keyboards and keybinds, the Z key used for pinging may not suit you. In this case, it’s very easy to change it to the key you want. To change the default settings, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the menu by pressing ESC or clicking the gear icon on the screen and enter Settings.
  2. Click Controls from the top of the Settings.
  3. Find Communication in its subheadings.
  4. Look for the “Ping (Tap) / Ping Wheel (Hold)”

You can change the default Z button from this screen. You can also use this screen to add shortcuts to other pings.

If you’ve been playing competitive FPS games for a while, you know that you need to keep an eye on the minimap while playing. That’s because one of the most important things you need to do to succeed is to gather information about your opponents. And you can give that information by pinging the minimap

Whether you’re on the offensive or defensive side, alive or dead, you can give information through the minimap. This is very easy to do:

  1. Open the map assigned to the “M” key by default.
  2. Click the left mouse button on the place you want to ping.
  3. Alternatively, you can hold down the mouse and open a mini ping wheel to ping various information.

Remember that for the best communication it is best to use voice chat. However, if you enter Valorant Ranked alone or are in an environment where you cannot communicate by voice, use pings. They are easy and effective.

Information is a weapon in games like Valorant. But it still doesn’t ensure that you will actually eliminate your opponent. To ensure your success, here are a few guides to improve your mechanical skills:
