If you want to get competitive in the Call of Duty: Vanguard, Champion Hill is a game mode for you. Champion Hill is a 2v2 or 3v3 tournament-style mode, it’s fast-paced and fun to play. Format and Rules

In Champion HIll you queue up in a team of 2 or 3. You are going to compete against seven other teams in fast-paced combat on small maps.

The way Champion Hill works is similar to TFT or Auto Chess. You get a random opponent based on the number of lives you have (you start off with 18). And then you have 60 seconds to eliminate opponents as many times as you can. Each death loses a life. When all the lives are lost and the players are dead the team is eliminated from the competition.

It is highly unlikely that you will get eliminated in the first round so you will go into the next match against another team until you either win or lose.

Starting Round/Buy Rounds

The game kicks off in the buy area of the map. The game will briefly explain the rules and then you have a minute to gear up with everything you need. Future buy rounds that will happen eventually or when the remaining team number is odd and you don’t have an opponent.

Here are all the buy stations you can find in this area:

  • Perks. Station to buy loadout perks like “Double Time”, “Tracker” or “Ghost”.
  • Support. Armor, Spy Plane, war/deathmachines and even Extra Lives are available at this stand.
  • Equipment. All the lethals like grenades, bombs and mines can be found here.
  • Weapons. Selected range of weapons available for this match.

Some stations like with weapons have random presets that will be available this specific match. It will also affect your starting weapons.

Try to always have a few hundred bucks saved for the future buy rounds. It’s a good opportunity to resupply with devices and armor.

Combat Rounds

Now it’s time to jump into the fight. Every Champion HIll map is split into 5 sections: 4 arenas and a buy arena. The arenas are where the teams fight and those aren’t super big. You won’t get killed at spawn (most likely) but the shooting begins as soon as you make the first five steps. Imagine a Blitz paced map for a 3v3, that’s your arena.

Your job is to kill opponents but the are a few key things for you to know about combat rounds:

  • Collect loot and money. In the beginning of the match there will laways be a few cash drops to grab. Cash also drops from every eliminated player but their weapon will drop only when the team is elminated.
  • Upgrade your weapon. You can upgrade weapons on the go when playing. Every upgrade adds an attachment to your weapon making you stronger. Upgrades are not expensive but focus only on your primary one. There are barely any situations when you will be forced to switch weapons.
  • Watch your back. In most cases you will respawn on the side opposite to the one you spawned last time. And if you get caught in a moment the opponent can already be right behind you.
  • Life tokens. In the middle of the arena an extra life token will spawn. It is an open area but with the right timing your team can get an extra life.

By the end of the combat round the team with the most eliminations will receive a win bonus around $1000 – $1500. That money can make a huge difference as you can get 3 weapon upgrades or a good bunch of perks during the buy round.

Be the Champion

Now you know everything you need to play Call of Duty: Vanguard Champion Hill. Currently, there is only 1 map available in Champion Hill which can make your experience monotonous. On the other hand, it will be easier to learn all the best spots and rotations to be on top of your game and one step ahead of your opponents.

Most likely there will be more maps and mechanics for Champions Hill in the first major update of Season 1 arriving on December 2.
