Since your team composition is one of the most important things in the game, you’ll have to make the right choice in this regard. It’s not that easy to do and sometimes there may be things that force you in the pre-match selection screen.
Whether you choose the first hero you see because you don’t have time, or someone else has taken what you want, you can swap the heroes always if your teammates want it. Hero swapping in Dota 2 is always nice to have.
How to Swap Hero in Dota 2
You can switch heroes before the strategy time runs out or at the beginning of the game. To be able to do that, you may not choose abilities (both you and your teammate) and you may not buy items.
- To swap heroes on the strategy screen, simply right-click on the hero you wish to take control of. To do this, your friend must approve this change.
- If you want to swap after the game has started, you need to do this before the negative time runs out. To do this, open the score screen and right-click on the hero you want to get.
Note that you cannot do this if you or the player you want to trade with has obtained an ability. Also, this method isn’t valid in Dota 2’s “Single Draft” mode.
