Clay is usually found around ponds or puddles all over the backyard, and it spawns into the world as a resource node. The most efficient way to harvest it would be via an Acorn Shovel, something that’s quite inexpensive.
Other locations that you should look out for when you need clay are Flooded Zone biomes. These are biomes that resemble swamps, and are located around the far east and west sides of the backyard.
This biome will be your best source for a lot of clay later on in the game when you’re looking to build more in general. Keep an eye out for the water fleas whilst you’re there though.
