IEM Beijing EU: Na’Vi Joins FaZe and Complexity at Playoffs

Natus Vincere won its regional derby up against Team Spirit, knocking them out of IEM Beijing Europe 2020. The final match of Group A has been postponed to tomorrow, where Vitality will face MAD Lions for one spot at the Playoffs Stage.

Team Spirit chose to start the series on Overpass, trying to replicate some of the success they found yesterday against OG.

Nevertheless, Natus Vincere would prove to be a different beast, as the CIS team relied once again on its super-star duo of Aleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev and Denis ‘electronic’ Sharipov to put an absolute wall on the CT side, putting a staggering 11 rounds on the board before the end of the half.

As second time came around the corner, Na’Vi dashed in to close the match before Team Spirit stopped them right in their tracks and brought themselves into double digits. In spite of these efforts, Natus Vincere would get to match-point.

Even though Leonid ‘chopper’ Vishnyakov would save his team once, extending the match into overtime would be too tall of a task, with the first map going 16-12 to the side of Na’Vi.

Spirit couldn’t overcome their rivals at IEM Beijing

Over at Nuke, Team Spirit would have it easier starting on the CT side, but the CIS squad would still reach the second half at a one-round disadvantage. Switching over to the offensive side, Spirit would show a new face and even manage to jump ahead on the scoreboard.

However, Natus Vincere was charging up, and once they got a full buy, they got eight rounds in a row. A triple kill from chopper was yet again just a temporary bump for the inevitable Na’Vi win, closing the series on a clean 2-0 sweep and reaching playoffs stage.
