After departing from the EG lineup on April 4th, it was announced yesterday that Chet ‘ImAPet’ Singh has been signed by the 100 Thieves CS:GO roster.
The previous coach of the 100 Thieves CS:GO roster, Aleksandar ‘kassad’ Trifunovic, left the team on April 28th due to a difference in vision for the direction of the team.
Stating that, “There is no ‘bad blood’ between us, it’s just towards the end our visions for the future of the team and how to reach the next level didn’t align, sometimes that happens and it’s perfectly alright. It sucks in some ways, but it is the best way to move forward.”
ImAPet was the coach of NRG/EG for over two years and was a contributing factor to their earlier success. During these two years, roster moves were made, and tarik and Stanislaw were brought onboard in an attempt to take the roster to new heights.
Unfortunately, these roster moves had a negative impact on ImAPet’s role as coach, stating in a Twitlonger that, “It’s no secret my relationship with Stan and tarik was absolutely horrendous. I don’t know what I could trust from them in multiple 1on1s nor did I agree with how we were changing the team strategically when we were all discussing what direction we needed to take to improve our consistency.”
In another Twitlonger, ImAPet stated that he might have made the switch to Valorant had this opportunity not come along.
He explains that, “Thankfully, I gave it enough time and didn’t sign my life away to Valorant where I was able to find a squad that I have a lot of faith in and they seem to have the same for me, so thank you 100 Thieves for the opportunity to let me jump back into competitive CS.”
Further adding: “With 100T we’re going to be entering an experimental phase in the team, which I’m really excited for and we’re going to be doing a lot of new things out of our comfort zones during this online season which I think will benefit us more long term ideally. It might not be great immediately but as long as we the team and fans trust the process, we will get there and get to the top.”
100 Thieves Recent Results
A new approach might be needed, as this 100T roster has been on a steady decline since November 2019, dropping on the HLTV rankings from 5th – 11th place from November until now. Looking at their results for this period leaves a lot to be desired, with the result from Katowice being the only one that might be deemed somewhat acceptable.
- ESL Proleague Season 10 Finals – 7-8th Place
- Blast Premier Spring Series 2020 – 10-12th Place
- IEM Katowice 2020 – 5-6th Place
- ESL Proleague Season 11 – North America – 5th Place
- ESL One: Road to Rio – North America – 7-8th Place
With ImAPet being signed to this roster, hopefully they are able to get back on track and make steady improvements in the long run. He will definitely bring something different to the table when compared with kassad. Whether or not that will be what this roster needs has yet to be seen.
