Interview with DK Ghost: “Cloud9 was the hardest team we faced in group stage.”

Updated:

After the match between DK and Detonation Focusme, DK’s ADC “Ghost” sat down with the press for an interview.

Written below is the transcript of Ghost’s interview. In bold font are the questions from the press, while in a standard font are Ghost’s answers.

Which team are you looking forward to facing in Worlds 2021?

Well, I haven’t really thought about Worlds yet, but I really wanted to face Nuguri and his team FPX at MSI 2021. But now that he isn’t here, I’m looking forward to seeing him at Worlds.

The weakest regions of your group were LJL and LLA. What are your impressions on playing against them in the tournament? And were you surprised by any player?

We think the LJL, their early game set-up or their level 1 invade was really sharp.

We sometimes saw some miscommunication in the dragon bit. Was there a specific reason for this miscommunication?

Well, sometimes different players had different calls, and sometimes we didn’t have enough information to pull off something. Lastly, I think there were some execution issues.

Earlier, Khan said he wanted to meet Evi. What did you think about DFM?

Since we lost multiple times in the early game, it wasn’t easy for us since we were looking for some clutch moments for us to turn the table around.

Which team has been the most difficult to face in the group stage?

Well because we lost to Cloud9, I would like to say Cloud9.

Are there any picks or strategies that came to your awareness, after you got to see the other players play in Iceland?

Well, I wanna point out that Nautilus was climbing up the tier list. Because he was not on top of the tier list in the LCK, but now that a lot of different support champions have been nerfed, I think he is really strong.

Have you watched RNG at all? What do you think of their playstyle?

I think they are very aggressive, but at the same time, they are always making the right set-up, and really always thoroughly preparing for plays.

What are your impressions after completing the first stage of MSI? What were you most satisfied with, and what were you disappointed with?

I’m satisfied that even when we were falling behind, we never gave up, and we had this mental fortitude to stay in the game and turn it around. At the same time, I think we can put it that we were quite often falling behind early.

Does the pressure of being the new Korean dynasty motivate you, or make you feel presured?

It’s not really pressure for me, because it reflects the number of expectations fans are having around us. So it just makes us practice even harder to play up to their expectations.

Carzzy in an interview yesterday said he really wants to play against you because you seem cute and fun. Have you been watching MAD Lions at all?

Yeah I’ve watched all of their games.

What are the strengths of Damwon KIA that compared to the other top group seeds like RNG and MAD Lions?

We’ll find out after we face against each other.

Would you say you underestimated any team in the group stage? Of course, you lost to Cloud9, and at the start of the DFM game previously, you almost lost again. Did you underestimate anyone?

Well, it was nothing like that. It was just making mistakes in the games.
