Jason Dill Tells EA To Make Skate 4

EA’s Skate series picked up where Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater left off, taking the genre into a more sim-style game rather than arcade, and fans absolutely loved it. While the skateboarding craze died down by the mid-2000s, gamers still loved playing skating games. The latest game in the series, Skate 3, was released way back in 2010 on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, and fans have been asking for Skate 4 ever since.

There have been rumors for a while that the first two Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games are going to be remastered, and it seems Skate 4 has the potential to be developed at last.

Recently, skateboarder Jason Dill let slip that he had been in contact with EA regarding their Skate series.

During a recent episode of The Nine Club podcast, Jason Dill discussed his conversation with EA;

I got a call from the EA people about 10 months ago, and they said, “Hey, we want to talk about the Skate game.” I said, that’s fine.

[They] said, basically, “We want to do a mobile version of Skate 3.” I wrote back, and I said, “What else?” She wrote back, “No, that’s it.”

I wrote back, “Hey, no big deal, but nobody wants your stupid mobile version of Skate 3. Make Skate f–king 4 already, cuz just, like, do it. Just make the game and participate again. You can’t level it up to the same numbers you get on other games, you do it for a cultural thing that pays you back later.

Whether Jason’s comments turned EA off a mobile version of Skate 3 remains to be seen; nothing has been officially announced as of yet. One thing to note, though: Skate 3’s servers have recently been turned back on, potentially adding fuel to the fire.

With the upcoming EA Play 2020 next month, it would be amazing to see a reveal of Skate 4, but I wouldn’t be willing to bet money on it. One can dream, though.
