Amongst all the news today, Riot Games announced a set of Space Funk Skins for League of Legends. Here’s all we know…
The League of Legends Space Groove skins combine the cute aesthetic of anime animals with the dangers of a MOBA. In the set, there’s skins for Blitzcrank, Nasus, and… Oh, would you look at that. A Lux skin.
They’re bright and colourful and well-worth a look. Check them out below…
Space Groove Skins
Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank is getting a skin with the cat piloting his rocket fist, and his face is a digitized angrysmile cat emoji. Blitzcrank’s aesthetic is very futuristic, with few hard angles and edges, and some probably unnecessary antennae.
Oh wait sorry, he uses them to tweet. I hope the walking/running animation has some sort of blue energy rings that float out from underneath him as he moves, because space.
Nasus
Nasus’ skin is kind of ironic, in my opinion. You have the same futuristic space theme, with round edges and Nasus sporting a DONK, but the ironic thing is that a cat is piloting an anthropomorphic dog champion. That brings some questions to mind.
If said cat pilot needed to infiltrate the dog headquarters, would they remember to sniff a butt to blend in? Or will they snake between the legs of someone and give themselves away? Only time can tell. Please, RIOT, PLEASE put in a ‘meow’ sound effect on Nasus’ Siphoning Strike. Please.
Lux
Surprise, everyone, a new Lux skin!
That paragraph break is for the silence following such a ground-breaking reveal. Don’t get me wrong, the skin IS well made, I won’t take that away from the artists. Thematically, it’s similar to the Blitzcrank and Nasus skins, but has a bit of a brighter look. I’d imagine that’s to mix in the whole light theme Lux has going on.
But… is it going to be different enough to matter, among a sea of already-loved Lux skins? I used to play a LOT of Lux, and RIOT would be hard pressed to get me to switch off of her Spell Thief skin… And not to mention the fashion faux pas of shorts AND a skirt. Pff. (I’m kidding I legitimately know nothing about fashion.)
I love the Blitzcrank and Nasus skins. They’re adorable, thematic, and they’re well made. And Lux got a skin too. I’m probably going to buy Blitzcrank’s and Nasus’ skin and annoy people in solo queue by….playing Blitzcrank and Nasus.
The League of Legends Space Groove skins are slated to be released later in 2021, after the Lunar Beast skins.
