First Fights: Play-in Stage
The Play-in Stage will be composed of two groups of five team each. Every team will have to play one game against every other team in their group in order to get ranked. The teams finishing 5th in their respective group will be eliminated.
The teams landing on third and fourth positions will be given one last shot to go forward in their race for the title of World Champions. Those four competitors will be facing each other in a best of five series, the victors will earn the right to move on and play again.
The team who finishes second in the opposite group will compete in another Bo5, and the winner of that match, along side with the first teams from the round robins, will move on to the group stage.
The Real Competition: Group Stage
Coming from the play-in stage, the four teams qualified will face against the twelve top seeds from all over the world. These twelve teams qualified directly in the group stage, and didn’t had to face the first stage of the competition.
In this stage, the sixteen teams will be split into four groups in which they’ll play a best of one double round-robin bracket. Here will decide the real champions, those who will access the last step of the climb to the top of the 2020 World Championship, only the top two teams from each group will move on to the final stage.
The Legends Showdown: Knockout Stage
This year the final scoreboard of the playoffs will not be predetermined by the usual preliminary draw, but the matches will be drawn at the beginning of each round, i.e. before the start of the quarter-finals and semifinals.
We will see the eight teams remaining fight trough a single elimination bracket consisting of best of five matches until a winner will be decreed.
This year winner will be come the 2020 World Champion and the 10th team to raise the world cup.
