With the LEC Summer Playoffs coming up, the team behind it has been making moves to grow the LEC brand. As such, the LEC has welcomed a very big brand in the financial services industry as its partner. Mastercard has been named as the LEC payment partner for Summer Playoffs 2021, and both playoffs in 2022.

Mastercard’s expansion to Europe builds off of the long-standing relationship it had with the League of Legends scene. The brand has already sponsored different leagues, such as the LCS in NA, the CBLOL in Brazil. They have even sponsored its international events, sponsoring both MSI and Worlds. This partnership means the birth of more content and experiences for both the staff and the fans of the LEC.

Coming with the partnership is its sponsorship for “Play of the Week” during the 2021 Summer Playoffs. This segment highlights the most memorable plays during the weekend.

Jeannette Liendo, the Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications for Mastercard Europe, was very proud of the partnership. “We are proud to partner with the League of Legends European Championship. This builds on our successful global partnership with Riot Games. We want to connect people to their passions and in Europe, the passion of League of Legends esports fans have for the game is indisputable.”

“We look forward to curating unique Priceless experiences for fans such as onsite event activations at the Finals of the League of Legends European Championship and other various promotions.”

Furthermore, its Senior Manager for Business Development and Partnerships, Zeynep Garcia, was excited to see what this partnership could bring. “Mastercard has become a staple when it comes to professional League of Legends partnerships and we are beyond excited to have them join the LEC family.”

“Their dedication and passion towards delivering top-notch content will play an important role in taking the LEC finals fan experience to the next level.”
