Metroid Prime 4 is a game players have been anxiously waiting for news on. With a development restart in January 2019, it seems the game could be a long way off. But in the meantime, players might soon be able to play through the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Nintendo Switch, even as early as next month.
Swedish Retailer inet have posted a listing on their website for Metroid Prime Trilogy with a release date of June 19th. This sort of thing happens quite often, with a retailer jumping the gun and listing the game before an official announcement. While these can just be placeholder, having a specific date, especially one in the near future, tend to mean these are accurate.
The Metroid Prime Trilogy includes the games Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption as one bundle and was originally released as a bundle on the Wii in 2009 and was later ported to the Wii U in 2015. Metroid Prime 1 & 2 were originally released on the GameCube in 2002 and 2003 and Metroid Prime 3 was released on the Wii in 2007.
This new release could also hint at Metroid Prime 4 coming sooner rather than later, with the trilogy bundle being a refresher for players or giving new players an opportunity to play the original trilogy before giving them the newest Metroid Prime 4. As of yet, there have been no huge games announced for the Holiday season, and maybe Metroid Prime 4 will be that game. The release date is also around the time E3 should have been, so a release date might be announced next month.
