The May 2021 Monster Hunter Digital Event has revealed details on Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and version 3.0 of Monster Hunter Rise. The reveal includes more information on the plot of Monster Hunter Stories 2 and additional content for Monster Hunter Rise. Check out the previous Digital Event summary for already released content.
May Digital Event – Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
The Monster Hunter Stories 2 segment opens up with a trailer that delves into the plot. It is advisable to watch the trailer yourself for the full impact, but certain details include “rage-rays,” which are strange lights appearing from pits that are causing monsters to become enraged.
Avinia, a character from the first Monster Hunter Stories, also returns in the sequel, providing support with her hunting horn.
Players can find eggs in Monster Dens that randomly appear in the field. These eggs can be taken back to the Stables and hatched to gain a new Monstie for your adventure.
Certain monster eggs are rare and can contain “hard-to-find” genes. The Rite of Channeling is a ritual that allows players to transfer a gene from one Monstie to another.
Using the Rite of Channeling allows players to create unique monsters with interesting skill and ability combinations.
Aligning 3 genes of the same colour or pattern in a row will grant a Bingo Bonus, which will grant the Monstie with even more power. These features will allow many ways of how to customize the players’ Monsties in versatile ways.
May Digital Event – Monster Hunter Rise 3.0
The May Digital Event also has information on the Monster Hunter Rise 3.0 free title update, which adds Crimson Glow Valstrax and Apex Zingore, as well as the conclusion to the main story.
Crimson Glow Valstrax is a new variant of Valstrax, a monster that was introduced in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Crimson Glow Valstrax is a new form with new attacks, and it is the first variant to be added in Monster Hunter Rise.
Apex Zinogre will be found on Rampage Quests, but can also be hunted in regular quests.
The new ending to the main story will follow up on the appearance and disappearance of Wind Serpent Ibushi and Thunder Serpent Narwa, the final bosses in the base game. No other information has been given in order to avoid spoilers.
Furthermore, additional cosmetic DLC will be available as a bundle as part of the title update. These include hunter voices of Yomogi the chef and Buddy Handler Iori, layered armour sets for the Hunter, Palamute, and Palicoe, poses, and more.
Capcom has also revealed their roadmap for upcoming content for Monster Hunter Rise, including a Capcom Collab that unlocked the Palico layered armour of Tsukino from Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will release on July 9, 2021, while the 3.0 title update will be available later tonight.
