EA and DICE have announced that the full reveal of the next entry in the Battlefield franchise will take place during a livestream broadcast next week, on June 9th. The livestream will be officially held on EA’s various channels and will be held at 7 AM PDT/4 PM CDST.
The announcement was made via a very short teaser video posted on the official Battlefield Twitter account. The date and time of the broadcast is accompanied by a slight variation of the now iconic theme and static lens flare effect.
The long awaited Battlefield 6, if it will even be called that, has been the subject of many rumors in the month leading up to this reveal. Various leaks have run rampant, with many people claiming to know a lot about the game.
Some leaked images appear to tease a new, futuristic setting for the franchise. One prominent Battlefield leaker has claimed the game takes place during World War 3 where players will take part in conflicts and battles all over the world, with slightly futuristic tech. Obviously, this is only speculation though and we cannot confirm or deny if those are true.
One thing the next Battlefield game definitely will have is large scale multiplayer battles and maps. Last year, according to PC Gamer , the CEO of EA, Andrew Wilson, said the game will have “…never-before-seen scale.” Furthermore, the general manager at DICE, Oskar Gabrielson also said the game will have “…massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.”
Perhaps this all means that the next Battlefield game will have an increase in player numbers for multiplayer games. That would be a welcome addition for the game’s debut on next-gen consoles. Despite if this is true, the game will probably still come out on previous gen consoles too.
All of this information will hopefully be confirmed soon when the new Battlefield game is unveiled on June 9th.
