Treyarch has recently revealed that the upcoming addition to the Call of Duty Franchise: Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will, in fact, include a Field of View (FOV) Slider across all platforms including Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
According to the above tweet, coming directly from the official Treyarch Studios Twitter account, the FOV slider will reach all the way up to a FOV setting of 120. This is a huge addition, especially to consoles, given the fact that FOV slider options have typically been exclusive to PC players due to limitations of the consoles, but that seems to be changing with the new generation of consoles, bringing consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation up a notch not only in the competitive scene but also in normal play. With the game supporting cross platform across all platforms, it seems only fair that console players should receive the same advantages as PC players.
Not only is Treyarch adding a FOV slider to all consoles for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, but the game is also receiving HUD Visual Toggles and a Ping System akin to Respawn’s Apex Legends.
The HUD elements that are able to be toggled are as follows:
- Hit Markers Visuals
- Damage-Based Hit Markers
- Ally Health Bars
- Enemy Health Bars
- Player Names
- Horizontal Compass
As of writing this, these are the only HUD options that are able to be toggled, but more may come after the launch of the game. Even so, this is an extensive list of options and is sure to be a welcome addition that will please players who enjoy customizing the way that they play.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will be the first title in the Black Ops series that a locational ping system will be added in multiplayer. This feature will span across all Multiplayer modes and will allow players to ping:
This will allow players who prefer to communicate with teammates non-verbally to call out to their team without needing a microphone. The ping system on controllers is bound by default to the left D-pad on controllers and on keyboards it is bound to “Z.”
