Riot Games announced that nine new Cosmic themed skins will be released before the end of the 2020 season. The focus this time is on some “forgotten” champions such as Skarner. Similar to the previous ones, all of the new skins will follow the same blue/purple starred theme.
Illaoi and Skarner finally get new skins
After almost 5 years, Skarner, the crystal vanguard, will get a skin. Could this be the way of Riot to apologize for the unfortunate lore related to Seraphine? The skin lore describes the champion as an “ancient creature of deep”.
“An ancient creature of deep, primal wisdoms from before the forming of the first galaxies, Skarner is composed of the very elements that are the building blocks of all the cosmos. His kind are the radiant antithesis of the ancient, squirming things that lurk in the deep darkness of space, and beyond it.”
As Skarner, Illaoi has been neglected for a while by the skin department. In fact, despite being released five years ago, she has only two skins. However, we couldn’t have hoped for a better picture of the the kraken priestess.
“An entity who carries the raw power of cosmic creation in her hands, Illaoi can slam the orb she holds into the very fabric of reality, allowing time to flow forward even in places where life has been eradicated.”
All the other new cosmic themed skins
Other seven champions will get their Cosmic-themed skin before the end of the year: Anivia, Hecarim, Lissandra, Nami, Nidalee, Varus and Vladimir.

These new skins will bring the Cosmic skin line to have a total of 16 skins. With them the Event Horizon skin theme will take the top spot among other events with a total number of 30 skins.
