New York Excelsior flex DPS Seung-hyun “Ivy” Lee retired from professional Overwatch on Friday.
Ivy came into the Overwatch League during season two when he joined the Toronto Defiant. The then 19-year-old made his impact known on an underwhelming team. After the 2019 season, the Defiant would trade Ivy to the Philadelphia Fusion for main tank Adam “Beast” Denton. With the Fusion, Ivy would flourish and have a significant role as the Fusion went on to finish fourth during the 2020 season.
Ivy would leave the Fusion in the offseason and enter the free agency market. He would go to sign with the New York Excelsior for the 2021 season. The NYXL’s roster was comprised primarily of rookies and a few veteran presences including Ivy and 2018 MVP Sung-hyeon “JJoNak” Bang. On the NYXL Ivy’s role was limited compared to previous seasons. Ivy only played three hours in the 2021 season, a fraction of the time he played in the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
Ivy has not commented on his future plans after Overwatch.
