We want another Nintendo Direct, and July seems to be the month. A fairly reliable leaker has suggested one may be on the way this month but leaves fans without any more information than that.
This summer is all about digital showcases. We have Bandai Namco’s showcase and Square Enix announcements both on the way, already, but now we may also have another Nintendo Direct to look forward to. These will differ from the Pokemon Presents showcase presentations by showing a wider range of products. Chances are, no Pokemon titles will be shown at all given the recent Pokemon Presents presentations. There was also a Nintendo Direct due to occur in June, but that was ultimately cancelled. Could they have just needed time to rework it?
This rumour, however, goes against the word of Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa. Recently, he discussed Nintendo’s aim to reconsider their Directs going forward.
“Times change and so does the most effective way to promote products”
Furukawa isn’t wrong, but the global pandemic does limit his options somewhat. Especially if he wants to share any more information sooner rather than later.
Twitter user @KeliosFR is the fairly reliable leaker in question. KeliosFR recently leaked the previous Nintendo Direct from March. He leaked this the month before, so had to wait a little while for this reputation to flourish. With that Direct Mini, we got the announcement that several 2K titles were being ported to the Nintendo Switch. This was alongside Xenoblade Chronicles, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’s next DLC pack, and more.
