Twitter user @KeliosFR, a usually reliable source of upcoming Pokemon news, has supposedly leaked that there will be a Nintendo Pokemon Direct next month in February. Here’s all we know…
A Pokemon Direct on the 25th Anniversary
@KeliosFR has a good track record when it comes to leaking Nintendo events ahead of time. On top of that, February marks the 25th anniversary of Pokemon, which adds credibility to the claim of a Nintendo Pokemon Direct.
The original tweet translates to ‘Finally, The Pokémon Company promises plenty of announcements for video games, mobile games (Pokémon Master / GO) and other big announcements for the franchise’, to which @KeliosFR respond with (translated) ‘Pokemon Direct next month ’. We see through your ploy, @KeliosFR, don’t be coy with us.
Taking the source’s credibility into account along with the 25th anniversary, it would be safe to say that the leak is accurate. Considering the somewhat recent release of Pokemon Sword/Shield, I very much highly doubt it will be about the next main installment in the series. Perhaps another spinoff. I’d kick several butts for a Mystery Dungeon set in Galar, or a second Pokemon Conquest.
Even better, a remake of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum would be amazing. I’ve been playing Pokemon since Pokemon was Pokemon, but Gen IV has always been my favorite for some reason. I think it’s because it was the first to have some sort of 3D graphics in a handheld Pokemon game.
Now that I think about it, it might be a collection of the older games all in a bundle. Eh, I’m just speculating and hoping.
