Square Enix and People Can Fly have put Outriders on sale for $44.99, a 25% discount, across all platforms.
This years most anticipated looter-shooter is already on sale despite being released less than two months ago. At 25% off, the discount should be enough to encourage people to buy it. The Outriders official Twitter account tweeted about the sale, including a link to the demo if you’re still uncertain about purchasing the game.
The Borderlands/Destiny/MMO looter-shooter gameplay of Outriders has already pulled in 3.5 million players, another impressive feat considering how new the game is. Few games have sold that many copies in such a short time.
In Outriders, you play as the advanced party of interstellar pilgrims fleeing a now uninhabitable Earth. Climate disasters, most likely caused by humanity itself, have become too dangerous and unstoppable to live on the planet any longer.
You and the other Outriders land on a planet that is fairly Earth-like, and begin preparations to make it into your new home. Until a storm ravages you and your compatriots. It kills most of you, but those that survive are imbued with special powers.
The only thing I’ve disliked in Outriders is that there is no jumping. I played Destiny and Borderlands for too long, I’m too used to being able to jump, or even jetpack my way up to a higher platform in search of better loot. It just feels… weird.
Outriders make up for the lack of jumping, however, with about 40 hours of gameplay, and a robust end game. Players have to work hard to get strong enough gear to tackle the end game content, but once they do they’ll find even bigger and badder beasties to take down.
