There is one week of action left before the OWL Summer Showdown knockouts begin. The final week, which will be taking place live on LAN in Shanghai, will feature the final six teams going head to head for the three remaining spots in the APAC knockouts. So to get you primed for the week, here is a rundown of how each APAC team can reach the OWL Summer Showdown knockouts.
In week three, the Shanghai Dragons will face the Los Angeles Valiant and the Hangzhou Spark. The Dragons will need to win one of these matches to qualify for the Summer Showdown knockouts.
Philadelphia Fusion, New York Excelsior, Hangzhou Spark and Guangzhou Charge are all currently sitting at 1-1 records heading into the third week of qualifiers. All four teams have a simple win condition to make it into the knockouts by winning both of their matches and finishing the qualifying matches with a 3-1 record. These 1-1 teams will also have an outside chance to qualify by winning one match and going 2-2. During the June Joust, the NYXL finished with a 2-2 record and managed to squeak in off of several tiebreakers. A positive map differential is all but necessary for a 2-2 team to qualify for the knockouts.
Seoul Dynasty has already their spot in the Overwatch League Summer Showdown knockouts while Guangzhou Charge has been eliminated from contention. LA Valiant still have an outside chance to qualify for the knockout stage even without winning a map all stage. Valiant will need to beat the Shanghai Dragons and Chengdu Hunters to have a chance to qualify.
The final week of the Summer Showdown Qualifiers begins on Friday at 5:00 AM EST. Then on Sunday, the top four teams in the region will face off four two spots in the June Joust playoffs against the top two teams in the NA region.
