PES 2021 Cheaper Release Price Ahead Of Net-Gen PES 2022

In a world where video games keep increasing in price, Pro-Evo have decided to make PES 2021 cheaper than usual ahead of releasing a re-worked next generation title in 2022.

I know. I can’t quite believe it either, but PES 2021 is reportedly going to be £25. That is quite literally half the price of FIFA games, if not more. But there’s a good reason for this. Unfortunately, I can’t imagine EA Sports will be quick to follow suit.

PES 2021 Cheaper Because It Isn’t A Full Upgrade On PES 2020

The official title for the release will be eFootball PES 2021 Season Update, which is just dumb. But, the premise isn’t at all. Konami has decided that due to the lack of any real improvement on the game’s engine ahead of the next generation of consoles, PES 2021 will be cheaper and just feature updated players, team, and league information. It will include the Euro 2020 content from the current PES title, too due to the delay. This is being done to allow Konami to put more focus into developing a PES title on the next generation of consoles. Makes sense, right?

Konami have also confirmed, despite rumours, that PES 2021 will be a standalone experience rather than a paid DLC upgrade on PES 2020. There will be special team-focused editions of PES 2021 available for digital download that will include additional content related to each club. For example, the Juventus Edition will include things like Juventus-themed menus, myClub squad content, and exclusive kits.

Could this be the year that PES finally overthrows FIFA? Maybe. Price is becoming more and more important in these kinds of situations and even more so when you consider the next-generation of consoles. While it may not seem as vital if one were cheaper than the other it could change things dramatically.

PES 2021 is scheduled to release September 15. It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
