The PlayStation5 Event Was Originally Due To Take Place June 4
Sony has been going all-out on advertising for the upcoming reveal of “The Future Of Gaming”. Originally planned for June 4 at 13:00 PT, the digital event is planning to finally give us a proper look at the PlayStation 5. This would be mainly via a games showcase which may or may not also hint at a number of launch titles for the console.
The teaser seen above has been a hot topic for PlayStation fans, but it has also been spotted on a number of US television stations. ESPN seems to be the one most people have seen. This makes sense given ESPN’s slow but certain entry into the world of eSports.
However, The Live Event Has Been Indefinitely Postponed.
Via a tweet made earlier today, PlayStation have chosen to postpone the event. This is to allow “more important voices to be heard”.
This is, of course, in relation to the developing protests that are currently going on across America. The protests are always ongoing, as the situation for African Americans in America is sadly not improving. This surge in intensity was sparked by the murder of George Floyd. Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer during his arrest. Floyd was not resisting but was still pinned to the ground with a knee to his neck.
PlayStation is joining a number of companies and organizations that are showing their support during this time. However, it is unsure as to the extent of their support. A tweet is something, as is postponing an event, but I fear it is unlikely to effectively contribute to the desperately needed change.
Black Lives Matter.
