Details for the Pokemon Go March Community day have now revealed, so we’ve made sure to list everything here – expect to see plenty of Sandshrew, and not just the original version.

The March Community day for Pokemon Go
We now know what to expect for the upcoming Community day. If you’re a fan of Sandshrew, we’ve got some very good news for you, because not just one, but both variants of Sandshrew are featured for this upcoming event.
There’s the usual slew of bonuses, an event-exclusive move for both regional versions of Sandslash, an exclusive event story and even more, which I’ll be covering all of shortly.
First of all though, when is Sandshrews Community day? We can expect it to start on March 13th at 11:00 AM local time. As per usual for Community Days, it will run for 6 hours, until 5:00 PM local time. You’ll also have up to two hours afterwards to evolve your favourite Sandshrew into Sandslash for their exclusive moves.
March Community day Bonuses
Aside from spawns being replaced with versions of Sandshrew, I also mentioned event bonuses. So let’s cover those first.
During the event, all of the following will be in effect:
Egg hatch distance reduced to 1/4 of the usual
Incense boosted to 3 hours duration
Lures boosted to 3 hours duration
On top of these passive extras, the store will also feature two new bundles on the day of the event. The first of which is free, and will contain 30 Ultra balls. The second of these, is the regular Community day box, which will contain all of the following for a price of 1,280 coins.
30 Ultra Balls
Three Super Incubators
Five Lucky Eggs
A single Elite Charged TM
While we’re on the topic of the store, you can also purchase the event-exclusive research story for $1 (or regional equivalent.) As the story is called Gritty and Glacial, it will likely also focus on both regional versions of Sandshrew.
Both Sandslash and Alolan Sandslash can gain a unique exclusive move from this event if evolved in time. Evolving Sandshrew into Sandslash during the event or up to two hours after it ends will make it learn the Charged Attack Night Slash.
Evolving Alolan Sandshrew into Alolan Sandslash meanwhile will grant the Fast Attack Shadow claw instead. It’s an interesting difference given both could have learned the same move. It does make for a nice chance to add some dark moves to Pokemon who might not otherwise have them though.
Both exclusive moves can be obtained by evolving either Sandshrew into Sandslash during the event or up to two hours afterwards.
Anything else to mention?
That’s really about all there is to the upcoming Pokemon Community day in March for Sandshrew. If you’re a particular fan of either version of them, this will make for an excellent chance to farm for a Shiny variant. Both are enabled for the event, and at a boosted rate, so this is the best chance you’ll see for a long time.
Ah, and of course, there are the usual cosmetic extras to the event. You can expect Sandslash to photobomb you in a number of AR photos during the event. There will also be a number of new stickers to celebrate during the event.
