Pokemon Go demo concept trailer with Hololens 2 is a glimpse into gaming in the future with Augmented reality.

Niantic received some minutes to make every Pokemon player dream during Microsoft Ignite Conference, an annual conference for developers and IT professionals hosted by Microsoft when Microsoft was making a presentation of Microsoft’s Mesh.

Microsoft’s Mesh is a platform developed to allow distant people to interact through mixed reality while creating a way for developers to create their own collaborative virtual spaces. However, Microsoft and Niantic showed that Mesh could also be used to change the way we play.

We’re thrilled to collaborate with Microsoft & Hololens on new experiences that will weave together the digital and physical world. Check out this proof-of-concept demo, built on our planet-scale platform, and the amazing possibilities that could await.

A minute and a half concept trailer was released showing how successful Pokémon Go could be when integrated with augmented reality technologies. The demo was aimed specifically at the HoloLens 2, Microsoft’s mixed reality smartglasses. However, it is just a proof of concept, not something actually running on HoloLens 2, but it’s a sign of what can become real.

With the founder and current CEO of Niantic, John Hanke, the demo trailer shows that, with HoloLens, players would be able to play without holding their phone while seeing the Pokemon right in front of you. Yet, nothing shown in the trailer has any prevision of reaching the mobile game.

For our part, we’re committed to leveraging and expanding our platform to build real-world AR experiences for as many devices as possible and reaching a diverse set of players no matter their physical location. This includes building with others that share a common vision for how technology can facilitate deeper social connection and spark a sense of adventure in the real world.
