This weekend, which also happens to be the weekend of E3 2021, a Pokémon Go Special Raid Weekend will take place. Raids will occur more frequently. On top of that, trainers will earn double the amount of Candy for catching Pokémon during the weekend.
Details of the event can be found on the Pokémon Go website. Niantic has also stated that trainers that have hit level 40 or higher will be more likely to earn Candy XL when catching Pokémon.

The event will run from Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 10:00AM until Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 8:00PM. All times are local.
As stated on the website, the Pokemon GO Special Raid Weekend will primarily consist of:
Twice the amount of Candies for catching Pokémon
Three times the chance to obtain Candy Xl for level 40 trainers or more
Raids will be occurring more frequently, including five-star raids and Mega Raids.
Regirock, Regice, and Registeel will also be appearing in raids until Thursday, June 17, 2021, 10:00AM local time.
Mega Slowbro will also be appearing in Mega Raids, which is also part of the Slowpoke-themed event starting on June 8, which also adds Galarian Slowpoke and Galarian Slowbro.
Furthermore, after June 17, 2021 (when the three Regis stop appearing in raids), a “surprise” Legendary Pokémon will be appearing for the first time in Pokémon GO. Be sure to keep eyes peeled for the appearance of this Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
For fans of the mainline series, the Diamond and Pearl remakes and Pokémon Legends Arceus are due for release on November 19th, 2021 and January 28, 2022, respectively.
