Fallout 4 power armor locations

The power armor is an essential tool when it comes to exploring the world of Fallout. And not only Fallout 4, any Fallout game. You get your first power armor very early in the game but we all want to upgrade. And there are a few armor sets in the game and almost every one of them is better than the starter one. So it’s time for us to discover all the power armor locations in Fallout 4.

If you have read our power armor guide you can jump straight to the locations section as we will revise a few important aspects when it comes to looking for power armor.

Power Armor Types and Requirements to Get

Power Armor Types

Let’s start off with the complete list of power armor types in Fallout 4. The list goes in the ascending strength way. So the very first armor is the weakest one and the last one is the most powerful one. You can also see the visual representation of each power armor in the image above.

  • Raider power armor (top left) – this is a makeshift armor that has very limited modification opportunities and in general is not recommended to use.
  • Power armor frame (top center) – this is not a set you can find. It’s just a base without any parts on.
  • T-45 power armor (bottom left) – the very first power armor you get. It was the first one ever manufactured and is considered basic.
  • T-51 power armor (top right)- more advanced power armor that was in a wide commercial use.
  • T-60 power armor (bottom center) – made to be a modern replacement for T-51. Is used extensively by the Brotherhood of Steel
  • X-01 power armor (bottom left)- the most advanced military armor there is

If you searched for more information about power armor you may have encountered models like X-02 or Hellfire. Those suits are fan-made and therefore not available in a vanilla version of the game. Usually, those power armors and quests developed for them are available via the Bethesda Creation Club.

Level Requirements

Before we jump to locations there is an important thing to talk about. The locations will never specify the armor model you will find. That’s because it depends on your character’s level. Each armor set requires a certain minimum level to be spawned. Here’s the table of the power amors and respective levels required in order for them to spawn in the open world:

Character level1-1010-1818-2728+
Power armorT-45T-51T-60X-01

Note that even if you meet the requirement to get the X-01 power armor you still have a chance to get a weaker set like T-51. But the chances of getting the better one increase with your level as well. So if you want to get an X-01, level 35 will offer you a better chance of getting one than level 28.

Power Armor Locations

Here’s the best map for searching the power armor. It is in fact an interactive map that is available here (courtesy of IGN). You can use it not just to look for power armor locations but also to mark fusion cores, settlements, quests, and much more. But down below there is a screenshot with only the power armor pins scattered all across the world of Fallout 4.

Keep in mind that on every marker you will find a frame with a random amount of power armor pieces on it. That means you are not guaranteed to find a full set of armor. One leg or arm can be missing. I know that’s a lot of lottery in regards to power armor in Fallout 4 but it is what it is.

Power Armor Never Changes

Now you know how to find your power armor in Fallout 4. Before wrapping up I’d like to talk about some strategies when looking for the armor. Obviously don’t go running across the world when low leveled. Your lucky T-45 armor will spawn and the spot will be wasted. So take your time leveling up, doing side quests, looting, and only then go after the top-tier armor sets.

When you are conquering the power armor marker here’s a pro strat – when approaching the location of the power armor, save the game. Name it something like “trying to get that X-01” to easily find it in among the tons of other save games and autosave. Now go get the armor and if the luck was not on your side, simple reload from the save. Old tricks always make your life easier.

And now we are officially done. If you need more information about the power armor in Fallout 4 we have got a complete guide just for this occasion. But other than that, that’s all for the locations. Good luck in the wasteland!
