Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid has become the first game to be cross platform on all 5 current gen platforms, excluding mobile. Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid is currently available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia and is fully cross platform on all platforms. If mobile was included, then Fortnite would take that accolade, as the game is cross platform on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Android and iOS.
For a long time, Sony held the gaming world back when it came to cross platform but eventually started to ease their stance and allowed Fortnite to be cross platform, and it’s great to see this being utilized by other games, too. It is also impressive that a fighting game is fully cross platform. Fighting games rely on a strong netcode to ensure that players don’t experience lag during online matches, and cross platform can cause many issues with that. With fighting games needing inputs to be frame perfect, it is great to see they pulled it off.
Hopefully, with more games becoming cross platform, we can finally end the console war, which is long overdue, because it is a bit stupid, really.
