According to a recent report from Comicbook, a custom-made PS2-themed PlayStation 5 that was recently made public to buyers is now being completely cancelled due to serious threats.
This PS5 was not sold from an official website, but instead was being sold by SUP3R5, which could possibly be part of the reason why they had to shut down every order, even though there is no official confirmation on who was making the threats. The console was only up for sale for a short period of time, and was quite limited with only around 304 units for the console and 500 units for the DualSense controllers.
Along with this, the company made a tweet addressing the issue which has now been deleted. According to Tom’s Guide, the tweet was as follows:
Last night, our team began receiving credible threats to their safety. We take these threats seriously, and as a result, we’re not proceeding forward. All orders are being cancelled with full refunds.
Many have reported having issues with receiving their refund, while others seem to have had no problems at all. The company also mentioned before having to cancel all orders that they were struggling to process payments and orders, which could also possibly be related to this whole fiasco.
There isn’t much to go on now that SUP3R5 seems to have completely deleted all of their socials, making it hard for them to be contacted by customers. This could end up with more problems if customers seeking refunds are unable to contact them.
While many might be sad to hear this news due to the PS5 being nearly impossible to obtain, things should eventually start to wind down in the upcoming months, allowing for more PS5s to be available to those who have not gotten their hands on the console yet.
