PS5 Isn’t Fully Backwards Compatible? Ubisoft Support Says So

On a Ubisoft Support Page, they state that the PS5 isn’t fully backwards compatible. PS4 games will still work, but that’s it.

Earlier today, Twitter user @Nibelion has pointed out that the PlayStation 5 isn’t going to be fully backwards compatible as some of us might hope. In response to the question “How Does Upgrading from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5?”, Ubisoft Support essentially confirmed the news.

This isn’t exactly news but is a little bit of a shame. You can check out the official page where this is displayed, here: Ubisoft Support Page

PS5 Isn’t Fully Backwards Compatible, Ubisoft Support Statement Quote:

“As part of their next-gen upgrade process, PlayStation offers a number of features designed to help you move from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.”

“ PlayStation 4 players will be able to join multiplayer games with PlayStation 5 players.”

“ Backwards compatibility will be available for supported PlayStation 4 titles, but will not be possible for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, or PlayStation games.”

It isn’t clear on whether this is Ubisoft specific or a console-wide restriction. Either way, it definitely puts doubt on the possibility of complete backward compatibility for the PlayStation 5.
