Do you think PUBG needs a Thermal Scope? Well… Wonder no longer! Here’s everything we know about the Thermal Scope that’s been introduced to PUBG LABS…

PUBG developers are kicking off the new year by introducing a Thermal Scope Mode for players to test out in PUBG LABS, a server separate from their existing Test Servers, dedicated to testing new features before being fully implemented in the game.

The Thermal Scope is a gun attachment that is different from telescopic scopes currently available in game:

Unlike existing telescopic sights, the Thermal Scope detects infrared rays emitted by objects and makes them stand out against their backgrounds. Thanks to this new equipment, players are now able to better detect enemies obscured by darkness, smoke, or trees and bushes, which can be difficult with the existing scopes.

With the Thermal Scope test, Devs will also be bringing back Moonlight Mode on their Vikendi map, which is a night variation of their existing snow covered map.

The new scope will be regular loot that spawns map-wide, as opposed to being contained in one of the game’s special crate drops, and ‘uses heat signatures to help you find obscured enemies more easily’. This means players who are using brushes, low lighting or smoke grenades to obscure their presence will be detected using the Thermal Scope.

Players should also note that PUBG LABS is a limited time test, accessible in game from January 7, 14:00 KST – January 11, 16:00 KST / January 7, 05:00 UTC – January 11, 07:00 UTC and is for PC and Console only.

Lastly, players are reminded that features tested in LABS are first and foremost experimental and may not make it to actual servers. As such, playing on LABS servers will not provide players with any BP or XP, and gameplay does not count towards Survivor Pass Missions or Career stats.
