Rainbow Six Devs Leak Y6S4 Operator Name During Reddit AMA

In a recent AMA taking place on the Rainbow Six Siege subreddit, the devs have seemingly leaked the name of the Y6S4 operator set to hit the game this fall.

Reddit user u/loose-gur-2721 asked the devs during the AMA: “Is there any chance that we will be getting any new weapons in the future, rather than recycling previous ones?” to which we received a very in-depth response.

The part of the response we need to focus on is towards the end, where the devs said: “a new one will be available soon (it’s the weapon of Thorn so I don’t know if you want to mention it).” The reply has since been edited, where the last part in brackets has been removed, presumably because it wasn’t supposed to be revealed.

We can presume that “Thorn” will be the Y6S4 operator, as dataminer Zer0Bytes_ has revealed on Twitter that the next operator will be “Osa”, who’s set to release in Y6S3, which will apparently be named Operation Crystal Guard. It’s worth noting that Zer0Bytes has previously been correct with his leaks regarding Operation North Star.

Although Y6S4 isn’t set to release until Fall 2021, the dataminer also revealed that the name of the Y6S4 operator is Brianna “Thorn” Skehan, in which she’s part of the Irish Emergency Response Unit. With the Rainow Six devs mentioning “Thorn” themselves, we can assume that his leak is correct.

More buffs coming?

This isn’t the only thing the developers said during the AMA. It was also hinted that popular operators such as Kali, IQ and Twitch will be receiving changes going forward.

Aurélie Débant, Game Director for Ubisoft responded to concerns around these operators and their place in the current meta, saying that “there is a plan for IQ to improve the intel sharing”, “news coming soon for Twitch” and “[they] need to look at Kali’s sniper itself and how to buff it”.
