Renegades has confirmed this Saturday that Alistair ‘Alistair’ Johnston will be taking the spot left open by the departure of Christopher ‘dexter’ Nong to Mousesports.
At one time considered to be one of the prime talents in Australia, the 22-year-old AWP last seen playing under the ORDER organisation will now move up the ranks and link up his compatriots at Renegades.
The Aussie roster fielded by the North-American organisation had a dominant run in Oceania during 2020, with the team being unable to travel internationally and finding limited opposition in their home turf.
Winning every single one of the last nine events at which they participated, the squad managed to keep up their first place in the Regional Major Rankings by a safe distance.
As 2021 surfaced, the team suffered a heavy blow, with the European side of Mousesports picking up their long time In-Game Leader Christopher ‘dexter’ Nong as the contract of Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen nears its expiration date.
With Simon ‘Sico’ Williams already wielding the AWP for Renegades, Alistair will likely be the one stepping down into the rifling role, possibly filling in as a menacing secondary AWP.
Alistair has already linked up with the rest of his team in Europe, as their debut will take place this Tuesday for the IEM Katowice Play-In, with the Australian roster facing international competition for the first time in several months.
To spice things up even further, their opening match will be against Mousesports, which not only features their former captain but also includes their former coach Torbjørn ‘mithR’ Nyborg.
