Resident Evil has had a strong prescence on Xbox Game Pass since the subscription service launched, with most of its current-gen titles making an appearance. Now it is set to get the latest in the main line series, Resident Evil 7, ahead of the upcoming Resident Evil 8 next year.
Resident Evil 7 was the first core game to go first person, with only spin off games such as the Survivor and Chronicles series’ being first person previously. As well as going first person, the series also stepped away from much of the established lore as well as the main characters, with the exception of one showing up at the end. But all of the iconic characters (such as Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine) and virtually nothing from the previous games is mentioned. Instead, the game focuses around new characters Ethan and Mia as well as the Baker family who have been possessed by a child demon. The game does take a lot of inspiration from other first person horror games such as Outlast, which was hugely popular at the time. Despite that (because let’s face it, Outlast wasn’t that good), the game is definitely worth a play through if you’re a fan of horror games.
Games usually cycle in and out of Xbox Game Pass. Resident Evil 7 won’t be there forever, so make sure you check it out soon. In addition to Resident Evil 7, there are some fantastic games coming to Xbox Game Pass within the next month. Check out the list below:
