Following their streak-ending victory over Misfits, we had the opportunity to interview Rogue’s mid-laner, Emil “Larssen” Larsson. In their match yesterday, Rogue brought a very unique draft to the rift, which ended up paying off. Larssen also went up against Vetheo, who was classed as another upcoming legendary EU mid laner. We wanted to know his thoughts on how today went, as well as how their match against G2 will go.
Written below is the transcript of Larssen’s interview. In bold font are the questions from us, while in standard font are Larssen’s answers.
Today, Rogue showed a very bizarre draft. Was this composition something you’ve been practicing in scrims?
Yeah, we definitely practised it quite a bit, and it was kind of the plan coming into today against them. But it was a very hard game. We played not too good, and Misfits played well. But I’m happy we fought till the end and managed to come back. We didn’t have the cleanest game so far in the LEC, but at least we stayed strong mentally and found opportunities to come back against Vitality, and today against Misfits. So I’m happy at least about that.
You faced Vetheo, who is on his way to becoming another legendary EU mid laner. What are your thoughts on him so far?
I can’t really comment. I haven’t watched too much of his games, so I can’t really comment. But it looks like he’s doing well, and he’s especially good on melee champions, like Sylas or Akali, and other champions like that. It seems like he’s a very promising player.
A lot of people are placing Rogue as one of the top 3 teams, making you another team to beat to make it to Worlds. What’s your opinion on this take?
I mean, it would be crazy if you didn’t put us in at least Top 3, or even around Top 2 makes sense. We reached the finals last split, and we were very closing to beating MAD, so it makes sense.
Tomorrow, you’ll be facing G2, who you knocked out last split in the semi-finals. Do you think you’ll be able to take another win from them?
For sure, we can win against G2. We kinda struggled against them in the past in best of one’s, but hopefully, we break this split, our curse of Best of 1’s against them. But I’m mostly interested to see how G2 comes back from the failure of the last split. It’ll be very interesting to see if they can come back to their great shape of 2019 and 2020.
Finally, what would you like to say to the Rogue fans, who have most likely grown in number after last split?
I guess there are more Rogue fans now which is very cool. In the past, there were not too many fans, but I guess there’s more now. It’s very cool to have fans that support us, and it’s a weird feeling. I’m not too active on social media, so I can’t really see too much of it, but it’s very cool.
