Psionix is making their car-football-rocket game free! Rocket League Legacy Status will be awarded to everyone who’s bought and played the game before it is converted to a free-to-play title.
Rocket League is going free-to-play, at last! But this isn’t all; the game will also be getting changes to its Tournaments and Challenge systems alongside a debut on the Epic Games Store. This all comes after the (presumably successful) introduction of the Rocket Pass a little while ago. This works similarly to other Battle Passes in the market, and going free-to-play would make sense considering the popularity of titles such as Fortnite, Apex Legends and Warzone.
Cross-platform progression is also being introduced thanks to the useful Epic Games Account! This has been proven moderately successful with Fortnite, and I am sure it will be a welcome addition to the title. Overwatch could do with that… Right?
Rocket League Legacy Players Will Get A Few Rewards Too
Any player who plays Rocket League before it becomes a free-to-play title will get a few great rewards for their “service”. Yeah, I don’t know why I phrased it that way. Either way, Legacy Status players will get:
All Rocket League-branded DLC released previously;
“Est. 20XX” title that displays the year that they started playing;
Over 200 common items upgraded to “Legacy” quality;
Dieci-Oro Wheels and Golden Cosmos Boost;
Huntress Player Banner and bragging rights?
Also, if you’ve played Rocket League prior to this announcement you’ll also get a Faded Cosmos Boost! According to Psionix, they should all be awarded to the players’ accounts when Rocket League goes free to play.
