World-renowned developers of the same game across every console generation is joining the music industry. Yes, you read that correctly. Rockstar Games is co-founding a record label with CircoLoco.
Rockstar Games is no stranger to music. They’ve been entertaining gamers for decades with their in-game radio stations that play music made just for the Grand Theft Auto series. Now they’re partnering with CircoLoco of Ibiza, Spain to found CircoLoco Records.
CircoLoco is well known for their underground dance music , showcasing the world’s dankest beats in their famous venue, DC-10. You can listen to some examples of their ear pounding songs here.
This almost guarantees that we will hear CircoLoco Records music in any future Rockstar Games titles. Especially Grand Theft Auto 6, when it releases four consoles from now. Jokes aside, I’m pretty hyped as I’m a fan of some subgenres of EDM.
This will surely increase the variety and quality of the music found in-game. Soon we’ll be able to choose from a much longer playlist of songs to listen to while we run over prostitutes whom we just employed in order to get a refund. Or fistfight every cop in the city.
Since Rockstar Games is co-founding a record label, this may lead one to think ‘what else will they venture into in the future?’. Probably not a lot. As we’ve already discusses, Rockstar Games is no stranger to making music, so this move isn’t really that drastic of a change for them.
Monday Dreamin’, CircoLoco Record’s first EP, will be released June 4th, 2021, but no other information on releases has been made public at this time.
