With every new month, a new Sea of Thieves update comes along. This month, sailors will brave the Haunted Shores. This update brings in a whole new wave of spectral scallywags for you to face off against and, of course, score some sweet loot.
The biggest update this time around is the introduction of a new PvE event. The ghost pirate Captain Flameheart has found a way to cross into the Sea of Thieves, and now his armada of spectral ships are here to fight. Sailors can take up arms and fight in this new ship battle. Different from the regular skeleton ships, these ships fire unique cannonballs. The Wraith cannonballs do massive damage and slam ships to the side with a devastating blow. Defeat enough of these ships and you’ll find yourself face to face with Flameheart’s flagship, the Burning Blade.
If ye be a mighty pirate and can defeat him, not only will you get new loot, but you will have the ghostly cannonballs for your own use. If you think you’ve got the mettle for it, you can start an encounter by talking to the Tavern Dweller Duke or from the Order of Souls Emissary.
Along with the new encounters sailors can now choose what shanty to play with their crew rather than a random one each time. With a new selection wheel, pirates have their pick of the original tunes along with a new batch of fresh songs to pass the time with. The Pirate Emporium also added some new emotes and skins for your favorite sea sailing companions.
