Sentinels Smash NUTURN and Reach Masters: Reykjavík Final

Updated:

Sentinels are your first Grand Finalists at Masters: Reykjavík. The North American squad defeated NUTURN without breaking a sweat, in a squeaky clean 2-0 series.

Some interesting decisions taken on the map veto, with Sentinels banning Ascent instead of Bind, a map that had been their permanent ban on Iceland until this point. NUTURN accepted the challenge and picked the map to start the series.

Sentinels got up to a nice momentum in the defence, clobbering through their executes and securing a commanding four round lead by the half.

With the pistol round in the bag, the North American squad distanced themselves even further. Sentinels were one step closer to the finals with a 13-5 victory.

After such a one sided affair, the odds were not in NUTURN’s favour heading into what has been one of their worst maps on Iceland, especially considering their difficulty to adapt to the playstyle of the European and North American regions.

Sentinels would turn the theory into practice, rolling through the Koreans time and time again on their post-plant scenarios.

With NUTURN moving to the defensive side of the map, there was a new problem in the horizon given the lack of Sentinel agents in their composition.

And, sure enough, after a promising start, the Koreans fell apart. Sentinels would secure Haven 12-4 and move up to the Grand Finals.

Even though tomorrow will be a day off for the Sentinels, Masters: Reykjavík action will still be on the menu with an EU derby coming up in Team Liquid vs Fnatic.

The winner of that match will play later on that day against NUTURN for a spot in the Grand Finals. Nevertheless, it will be hard to stop what has been a flawless and implacable run from the Sentinels.
