The (former) San Francisco Shock DPS, Architect, has left the team to join the Hangzhou Spark. In a mutual agreement between the team and the player, his contract has been transferred to the Chinese team, which means he will be joining guxue, Adora, Ria, GodsB, iDK, BeBe, SASIN, ColdesT, M1ka and Ado in hopes of continuing the team’s journey in the OWL May Melee against the Seoul Dynasty this weekend.
In a long series of tweets, the South Korean has explained how he felt when joining the Shock, leaving his hometown and country for the first time and how he has received all the love in the world by the San Francisco side. He also thanked players, coaches, staff and fans for all the support they showed during his two years with the team.
What will happen with the San Francisco Shock?
Architect’s release means the reigning OWL champions have lost one of their main DPS players, which might initially seem alarming for a team of their caliber. However, the South Korean’s departure has brought with it an addition: Twilight.
The former Vancouver Titans support player will join the Californian team (as soon as the League approves it) to “help Shock to once again bring the trophy home”. And boy does that look likely after this move.
Twilight has been praised by many for his incredible mechanical skill and for his reading of the game (with Wolf Schröder claiming he was “the best Zenyatta player in the world”), helping Vancouver Titans claim the OWL 2019 Regular Season title with an impressive 25-3 record. He will have to compete with moth and Viol2t for one of the two support roles in the San Francisco team, but one thing is for sure: no matter what happens, the Shock will be serious contenders to revalidate their title in this weird, stay-at-home OWL 2020.
