Expectations to be met
Such big news and the collaboration between such big titles is going to naturally set expectations for many, and the key thing here should be that the game should feel like a Sonic game, but without losing touch with the main focus, that this is an add-on to Minecraft. This seems to be the direction that this DLC is taking with the fact that it brings very core and iconic features of Sonic games, without taking too much away from the fact that this is still, our favourite timeless sandbox game. The official trailer, provides a lot of insight into this, showing that there rings to be captured, monsters to be beat, bosses to be battled (looking at you Dr. Eggman, which you will get to square up with!), exploring levels and secrets, collecting the chaos emeralds, and so much more, all while being able to do so with your friends and get to play your favourite characters, or get introduced to them!
The importance for the future of Sonic games
With Sonic being a classic character bringing nostalgia to many, this is the perfect window of exposure for SEGA to get their beloved hedgehog out in the open and for many to meet, and for others to reconnect with. And this DLC is going to grab many fans’ attention of both games, and the Sonic community will for sure grow, and develop a bond with the Minecraft community after such a massive collaboration! With SEGA previously promising that something big is in the works, in their new 2022 title looking to set a “foundation” for future Sonic games! This seems to be the first step of SEGA taking a new dynamic approach to their signature title, a very bold move, and one that is worth looking forward to. The future of Sonic is going to be very interesting, it is looking quite bright, and we hope that it will deliver on the hype that it is spreading throughout the community.
We’re all looking forward to what is coming in the future for Sonic and his friends, and we are certainly excited to meet all the Chao we will find in the Minecraft DLC!
