Star Wars: Squadrons has finally been fully announced! After it leaked last week, EA released two teaser images hinting further at what the title will entail.
Star Wars: Squadrons is finally being revealed via a live YouTube stream of a short trailer. From the teaser images, and the name itself, it seems almost certain that the title will revolve around aerial combat. So far we’ve seen an X-Wing and a TIE Fighter, with art of their respective pilots. But, will it just focus on the Original Trilogy Era? Either way, the tagline says it all. Pilots wanted.
Some die-hard fans will have no complaints about this, but both the Prequel Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy have a lot of fans too. Particularly, fans of the ships shown throughout. Everyone likes a Republic Gunship, right? I am personally a fan of the Y-Wing… So, hopefully it isn’t purely fighter based.
If it is purely focused on aerial combat, it’ll be the first Star Wars game since 2003’s Rogue Squadron: Rebel Strike. However, both of EA’s Battlefront titles feature rather exceptional starfighter combat. This seems almost certain given… Everything we knew before the launch.

Star Wars: Squadrons Is An Intensely Personal Starfighter Experience
Here’s the Official Reveal Trailer below:
What Do We Get A Look At?
EA Motive’s Star Wars: Squadrons has a clear focus on aerial combat. However, it’s more than that. The trailer shows a dogfight between a female X-Wing pilot and a TIE Fighter. This is, as expected, part of a much larger fight. The Rebellion against The Empire. Good against Evil. You against them.
We see both sides of the fight, though. The Rebellion fights for hope and the New Republic while The Empire fights to retain order and seek vengeance. It appears that the game will take place after the Battle of Endor, too! So, it’s new territory to chart.
Star Wars: Squadrons makes dogfighting personal and puts you in the thick of the action. We get a glimpse at the exterior and interior combat, alongside several important details. Firstly, there’s going to be alien races for the Rebellion. In the glimpse we get, we see a Trandoshan! Does this mean you get to customize your fighter? It seems like you will be able to. On top of this, you’ll be able to customize your ship too! We also get a release date.
Star Wars: Squadrons is coming 2nd October, 2020 for $40USD. EA Access and Origin Access Basic members will get a 10 hour trial of the game on launch, with Origin Access Premier members getting it for free!
Five Pilots. One Squadron. The Galaxy’s Finest.
