Back on September 3, 2020, Nintendo unveiled a re-release of the Wii U game, Super Mario 3D World for the Nintendo Switch. Since then, Nintendo has been rather mum on the details of the re-release, most notably the extra content, dubbed “Bowser’s Fury.”

After months of silence on the updated re-released (the Switch version is supposedly larger in file size than the Wii U version), Nintendo has finally launched the website for the game. This is exciting news, as the game is just over a month away and so we should be getting more information on the game very soon.

Unfortunately, there still isn’t any new information on “Bowser’s Fury,” but the website does make a note of it, telling us to stay tuned for more information about this addition to the game.

Based on the gameplay footage shown so far, the characters apparently run 25% faster and will support online co-op multiplayer. Furthermore, the Cat Mario and Cat Peach Amiibos will be released alongside the launch of the Switch version of the game.

Introducing the Super Bell power-up, which gives the characters a Cat Costume (giving them a variety of abilities, such as wall climbing and pouncing), Super Mario 3D World received critical acclaim when it launched on the Wii U on November 21, 2013.

This is no surprise, as Nintendo has kept an amazingly good track record on their Mario games–and they should, as Mario is Nintendo’s mascot. Super Mario 3D World director, Koichi Hayashida, has mentioned that the game serves as a “de facto” continuation of the 3DS game, Super Mario 3D Land, which also received universal acclaim.

Mario fans who need their fix until 3D World releases can still look to Super Mario All-Stars, which is still available for physical and digital purchase until March 31, 2021. On that day, the game will be removed from the Eshop. Super Mario 3D World comes out on February 12, 2021.
