Taming foxes in Minecraft may be something on your agenda, amongst all the mining and crafting… This article will hopefully be able to help you with that by explaining where you can find a fox and how you can tame one!
Okay. I’m with you. Minecraft foxes are adorable and well-worth the effort to have one by your side. However, the process is a little different when you compare it to taming other animals. You won’t need to carry around your spare bones for this one!
Taming Foxes In Minecraft Means Finding One
This seems like a pretty simple thing to do, but Minecraft foxes only spawn in certain biomes, so you’ll need to do a bit of hunting for them.
In order to locate a Minecraft fox, you’ll need to be looking in Taiga biomes. These are the large, colder, forests you may have come across. They come in three different types: Normal Taiga, Snowy Taiga, and Giant-Tree Taiga.
In these forests, foxes spawn in smaller groups of up to four with a 5% chance of spawning as a baby fox. If you want a specific kind of fox, be sure to search the appropriate biome. Snowy foxes spawn in Snowy Taiga biomes, for example.
Now, All You Need Is To Create Life
Okay, that sounds a little extreme, but what you actually do need to do is breed the foxes in order to hatch a brand-new loyal fox! The word ‘hatch’ kinda throws me off here, but that’s the Minecraft terminology…
The first thing you’ll need is at least two foxes. From here, you need to feed two of them with a Sweet Berry. This will, with any luck, make them want to mate. The fox that is born from your matchmaking will be loyal to you! Yay!
Well, not quite yay… The fresh fox will also want to stay with its family. Understandable, right? The best way to get the fox away from its family without having multiple fox murders on your hands is to use a lead. You can craft a lead with four string and one slimeball, but they also pop up as random loot about the world.
Once the fox is away from its family, it’s all yours! Just make sure you keep it fed up with Sweet Berries!
