The Medium is Already Profitable

The Medium is already profitable

A third-person psychological horror game, The Medium is already profitable despite being released on January 28th, also while being exclusive to the Microsoft platforms of Xbox Series X/S and Windows. Here’s what we know…

After only three days of being available to the public, The Medium is already profitable, earning the development and advertisement costs back for the developer. `That’s quite the achievement considering that while on Xbox Game Pass, it isn’t even on Xbox One. Only Windows and Xbox Series X/S have The Medium. Subtracting PS4, PS5, and Xbox One from the pool of potential purchases should’ve made this achievement difficult. NOPE. The Medium takes your expectations and throws them out of the window

Bloober Team, the studio behind The Medium, had previously released Blair Witch and Layers of Fear 2. Layers of Fear 2 was fairly well received, which may have led the way to The Medium being looked forward to by the fans of Layers of Fear 2, which further may have had a hand in fueling anticipation for the release.

Hitman 3 joined The Medium this week in the ‘Profitable Really Friggin’ Quickly’ club, having recuperated IO’s development and advertising costs almost immediately.

I’m not a big horror guy, but if I had a beefy enough PC or an Xbox Series X/S to play The Medium, I’d probably buy it. The split screen, two dimension view is pretty cool, and will make puzzles even more difficult for my 1D chess playing noob self.
