Venus was one of the main planets in Destiny 1 and we haven’t seen it in Destiny 2 up to this point. But now we get to see this planet in the reprised raid from the old times – Vault of Glass has finally arrived in Destiny 2!
The raid is coming back with a “few surprises” from what Bungies have said. The raid will feature mechanics from D2 like Champion enemies or Wyverns. The original encounters and mechanics of the raid could also have changed.
As we already noted in the Season of the Splicer breakdown, the old/new raid can be launched from the Legends tab to the right of the core playlists. There you can launch the regular and challenge mode version of the raid.
There is no story context to the return of the raid so don’t expect any cutscenes or dialogues. It is just an activity that came back from the past and has nothing to do with the storyline. But you can now enjoy the orbit of Venus and earn a Pinnacle reward for the completion of the raid.
The loot pool for the raid was disclosed a while ago. And since I’m not an expert in VoG guns and armour, I will leave this for you to inspect. But the loot pool is reprised from the Destiny 1 version of VoG (I mean what else could we expect). Here’s a table with the encounters of the raid and the loot you can get after completing them by u/Testifye on Reddit.
World First and Contest Mode
During the first week after release, every raid is in contest mode. This means it has a fixed difficulty and a Power Level requirement of 1300. All that is made for the World First race and exclusive rewards for completion.
World First is a race where different fireteams are battling their way to be the first in the world to solve the raid. The objective is to complete the Vault of Glass, Challenge mode, and Tempo’s Edge triumph. Winners of this race are clan Elysium!
And if you were not participating in the race, you can still earn something memorable by completing the raid before May 25th. The completion will unlock an exclusive Vault of Glass raid ring for purchase on the Bungie store.
