With lockdown still in full swing, many people are turning to gaming to keep themselves entertained, causing a big rise in software sales. Let’s take a look at the Top 10 UK Games Chart for the week ending May 2nd.
Last week, Animal Crossing knocked FIFA 20 off the top spot, and now it looks like FIFA 20 has reclaimed its spot. With football being cancelled, perhaps people are turning to FIFA for their footy fix?
It’s interesting to note that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, GTA 5, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Final Fantasy 7: Remake have all stayed in the same spots at numbers 3, 5, 6 and 8.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has seen an increase in sales, going from number 7 to number 4, perhaps to give families something to do together. Red Dead Redemption 2 has also been bumped up to number 9 after Ring Fit Adventure went from number 4 to not being in the top 10. There have been many complaints of people struggling to get hold of the software, and this could explain it. Apparently, the accessories are easy enough to find, though. This has allowed Forza Horizon 4 to creep up from number 11 to number 10, giving it another top 10 placement.
It is interesting to see what games people have chosen to fill their lockdown hours. There’s plenty of long titles such as Final Fantasy 7: Remake and Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as plenty of multiplayer-focused games such as Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
